Project Overview
What is the CULTURAI project?
CULTURAI stands for Cultivating Inclusive and Sustainable AI Policy for the Creative Sector. The project addresses one of Europe’s most urgent challenges in the era of artificial intelligence: safeguarding the vibrant and diverse cultural landscape while driving ethical, responsible, and human-centered AI innovation. By bridging the gap between policymakers, cultural heritage institutions (the GLAM sector), and the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), CULTURAI builds sustainable strategies to protect the livelihoods, lived experiences, and career trajectories of creative professionals facing AI disruption. The initiative aims to enhance cultural diversity, guarantee ethical data practices, and establish a dedicated hub to anchor long-term, responsible AI standards across the sector.
The project runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2030.
This initiative is funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme (Cluster 2: Culture, creativity and inclusive society).
